What It’s Actually Like (Honest Review)
Sandals Royal Barbados is one of the most polished and modern Sandals resorts—but it’s not for everyone. It feels upscale, social, and a bit “buzzier” than other Sandals. Think rooftop cocktails, music by the pool, and lots of options—not quiet seclusion. Rooms are modern, spacious, and all-suite—but not all locations are equal. Some are quieter garden areas, while others are closer to the action. There's a variety of dining options (20+ restaurants across both resorts), and overall very good. The beach has beautiful white sand and swimmable water—but not the long, walkable beach you get in Negril.
👉 Bottom line:
If you want modern luxury + options + energy, this is a fantastic choice.
If you want quiet, secluded romance, there are better Sandals resorts.
What You’ll Do at Sandals Royal Barbados
- Lounge at the rooftop infinity pool (one of the best features)
- Swim-up bars and multiple pool scenes
- Bowling alley and craft beer bar
- Fitness classes and Red Lane® Spa
- Nightly entertainment and live shows
Sandals Royal Barbados vs
Other Sandals Resorts
- Want a quiet, secluded vibe → Sandals South Coast
- Want the best beach in Jamaica → Sandals Negril
- Want lush mountains + scenery → Sandals Saint Lucia resorts
- Want a smaller, intimate feel → Sandals Halcyon
Getting There
- Direct flights available to Barbados from Toronto and major US hubs
- Transfer time: approximately 15 minutes
👉 I always highlight this—it's one of the easiest Sandals resorts to get to, and you can be at the resort (drink in hand) shortly after landing.
Good to Know Before You Go
- This is one of the most modern Sandals resorts
- Beach is beautiful, but not as long as Negril’s Seven Mile Beach
- Resort can feel lively—especially in peak seasons
- Best for couples who want energy + options, not seclusion
My Personal Take
This is one of my personal favourites—but I don’t recommend it to everyone. It’s perfect for clients who want energy, variety, and a more modern luxury feel. If your priority is peace and quiet, there are better Sandals options.
