Sandals Grande St Lucian Resort Guide
Sandals Grande St. Lucian is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort set on its own peninsula in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia. With a gorgeous beach, calm Caribbean water, beautiful views and some of my favourite rooms in the Sandals collection, this is a resort I love recommending.
The setting is a huge part of the appeal. You’re surrounded by water and tropical scenery, with Rodney Bay on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other. The beach is one of my favourites at Sandals, and the resort offers everything from surprisingly affordable walkout rooms to swim-up Club Level accommodations and spectacular overwater bungalows.
There is one trade-off you should know before booking: the drive from Hewanorra International Airport can be long. Sandals Grande St. Lucian sits on the northern end of the island, while Saint Lucia’s main international airport is in the south.
Once you arrive, though, you’re rewarded with one of the most complete resort experiences in Saint Lucia.

Sandals Grande St. Lucian is located at the northern end of Saint Lucia, so the drive from Hewanorra International Airport can be long. I wouldn’t let that automatically rule the resort out — I love Grande St. Lucian — but I would factor the transfer into your plans, particularly for a shorter vacation.

For me, Sandals Grande St. Lucian is one of those resorts where the setting really delivers. The resort sits on a peninsula in the north of Saint Lucia, giving you water, views and tropical scenery in multiple directions.
Then there’s the beach. It’s gorgeous. If you tell me the beach is one of the most important parts of your vacation, Grande St. Lucian is one of the Saint Lucia resorts I’d look at first.
I also really like the range of accommodations here. You don’t have to book one of the resort’s most expensive suites to have a great room. There are appealing options across Luxury, Club and Butler levels, including walkout rooms and swim-up categories.
And if this is a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon or milestone trip, Sandals Grande St. Lucian is also home to those iconic overwater bungalows.

Sandals Grande St. Lucian has room categories for very different budgets and vacation styles. You can keep the room relatively simple and spend your vacation enjoying the resort, upgrade to a swim-up Club Level room or go all-in on one of Sandals’ most recognizable accommodation experiences. These are three of my favourite choices.
BEST VALUE
Caribbean Walkout Deluxe
The Caribbean Walkout Deluxe is one of my favourite value choices at Sandals Grande St. Lucian. I like walkout rooms because they make it so easy to step outside and immediately feel like you’re on vacation.
At a resort where the beach, pools and outdoor spaces are such an important part of the experience, you may decide that you simply don’t need to spend significantly more on your room.
Best for SWIM UP LOVERS
Swim Up Lover’s Lagoon Honeymoon Club Level
If you’ve always wanted a swim-up room, the Swim Up Lover’s Lagoon Honeymoon Club Level is one of my favourite upgrades at Sandals Grande St. Lucian. Being able to step directly into the water from your room changes the way you use your accommodation.
Instead of your room simply being somewhere you return to at the end of the day, your patio and lagoon become part of the vacation. For couples who want something special but aren’t looking for the price tag of an overwater bungalow, the HR is a great middle ground.
Best bucket-list option
Overwater Honeymoon Butler Bungalow
This is the room people picture when they dream about an overwater honeymoon. The Overwater Honeymoon Butler Bungalows at Sandals Grande St. Lucian give you a completely different resort experience, with your accommodation extending directly over the Caribbean water.
For a major honeymoon, milestone anniversary or once-in-a-lifetime trip where the accommodation is meant to be unforgettable, this option is one of the most distinctive choices at Sandals Grande St. Lucian.

Is Butler Service Worth It at Sandals Grande st lucian?
I’m more likely to recommend a Butler suite at Sandals Grande St Lucian if:
- You specifically want an overwater bungalow
- You want one of the resort’s premium suites
- You’re celebrating a major honeymoon or anniversary
- You want your accommodation to be a significant part of the vacation
- You value personalized service throughout your stay
- You want assistance with dining arrangements and your daily resort routine
- You plan to spend meaningful time enjoying your suite
Not every couple needs Butler service. Sometimes I’d rather put your budget toward a better room location or a longer stay.

MY TAKE
WHAT IS SANDALS GRANDE ST LUCIAN REALLY LIKE?
I love this resort.
The beach is gorgeous. The views are beautiful. There are great rooms across different price points, and the whole setting feels like the Caribbean vacation people have in their heads when they start planning Saint Lucia.
For me, Grande St. Lucian has a really strong balance.
You can spend your days doing very little beyond swimming and sitting on the beach, but there’s enough going on that a seven-night stay doesn’t feel repetitive.
And I particularly like that you don’t need to book the most expensive room to have a great experience.
Would I love an overwater bungalow? Absolutely.
But I could also stay in a well-located walkout room, spend my days on that beach and be very happy.
The drive from the airport can be long, and I think clients should know that before they arrive rather than discovering it after a long flight.
For me, the resort at the end of that drive is worth it.
THE BEACH
TURQUOISE WATERS AND SOFT SAND
The beach is one of the biggest reasons I love Sandals Grande St. Lucian. It’s gorgeous.
The resort’s location gives you a beautiful stretch of sand and inviting Caribbean water that makes it easy to spend an entire day outside. This is the kind of Sandals where the beach genuinely influences my recommendation.
If you tell me that you picture your vacation swimming in calm water, relaxing on the sand and looking out over beautiful Caribbean scenery, Grande St. Lucian immediately moves higher on my list.
