Newly renovated with refreshed rooms, restaurants and resort spaces, it combines a classic Jamaican beachfront setting with the convenience of one of the easiest airport transfers in the Sandals collection. And, there’s more coming. Bay Roc Rum Bar will add another distinctly Caribbean experience, pairing rum with Caribbean small plates in a setting that feels perfectly suited to Jamaica.

Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay may not be my first recommendation if you want a secluded resort far removed from everything else. This is Montego Bay, and its location is part of the appeal. You’re close to the airport, close to the action and have easy access to another Sandals resort.

Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay has been a longtime favourite in Jamaica, but the newly renovated resort feels fresh again. Updated accommodations and resort spaces give the property a more contemporary feel while retaining one of its biggest advantages: its beachfront setting.
Then there’s the location. You’re extremely close to Sangster International Airport. Instead of spending a significant portion of your arrival day driving across Jamaica, you can land, transfer to the resort and start your vacation.
The exchange privileges with Sandals Jamaica Caribbean Cay add even more value. You aren’t limited to the restaurants and experiences at Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay. It’s one of the biggest advantages of choosing Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay — you get to come home to your newly renovated beachfront resort while still having another Sandals property to explore.
Best Rooms at Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay
Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay has accommodations across Luxury, Club and Butler levels, so you don’t need to choose one of the resort’s most expensive suites to have a great room. I’d focus on the features you’ll actually use: private outdoor space, ocean views, beachfront location or the additional space and service that come with a Butler suite. These are three of my favourite choices.
BEST VALUE
Luxury Room with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub
The Luxury Room with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub is one of my favourite value options at Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay. You get something I particularly like in a Caribbean resort room: private outdoor space.
The balcony and Tranquility Soaking Tub give you somewhere to enjoy a coffee in the morning or relax with a drink before dinner, without requiring a jump into Club or Butler-level pricing.
If you expect to spend most of your vacation enjoying the beach, pools and restaurants, this is a category I’d consider.
Best for ocean views
Oceanview Club Room
If waking up to an ocean view matters more to you than having a larger suite, the Oceanview Club Room is one of my favourite choices. You get an elevated location and ocean views along with Club Sandals amenities, including concierge service and additional conveniences during your stay.
It’s a great middle ground for couples who want something more than an entry-level room without moving into Butler pricing.
Best for a splurge
Beachfront Honeymoon One-Bedroom Butler Suite with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub
If you want your room to be a major part of the vacation, the Beachfront Honeymoon One-Bedroom Butler Suite is the category I’d consider.
You get the beachfront setting, a separate one-bedroom layout and a balcony with a Tranquility Soaking Tub.
With personalized Butler service, this becomes a particularly strong option for a honeymoon, milestone anniversary or special celebration.

Is Butler Service Worth It at Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay?
Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay has great room options at every service level, and I would choose the category based on your preferred location, and views, within the resort.
I’d consider a Butler suite if:
- You want a larger one-bedroom suite
- You specifically want one of the premium beachfront categories
- You’re celebrating a honeymoon or milestone anniversary
- You value personalized service throughout your stay
- You want assistance with dining arrangements and your daily resort routine
- Your room is going to be an important part of your vacation experience
If you plan to spend most of your time on the beach, at the pool or exploring both Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay and Sandals Jamaica Caribbean Cay, I’d consider whether a well-located Luxury or Club room might be a better use of your budget.

WHAT IS SANDALS JAMAICA MONTEGO BAY REALLY LIKE?
Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay is one of the easiest Jamaica vacations you can take.
You land at MBJ and you’re almost there.
I think that matters more than people sometimes realize, especially if you’re travelling for four or five nights. A short transfer means you can spend more of your arrival day at the beach instead of in a vehicle crossing the island.
The renovations make the resort particularly interesting right now. You’re getting a refreshed Sandals experience while retaining the beachfront location that has always been one of Montego Bay’s biggest strengths.
Then add the exchange privileges with Sandals Jamaica Caribbean Cay.
That significantly expands your options. You can enjoy the restaurants, atmosphere and beach at Montego Bay, then experience another resort when you feel like changing things up.
The atmosphere here is also more energetic than some of the quieter Sandals properties. If you want a Jamaica vacation where there’s plenty happening and you like having options day and night, Montego Bay is worth considering.
One thing I would be aware of is the proximity to the airport. Being so close is incredibly convenient, but it also means you may notice aircraft during your stay. For many travellers, the trade-off is absolutely worth it for the short transfer.
THE BEACH
A CLASSIC MONTEGO BAY BEACHFRONT
The beach is one of the biggest reasons I’d choose Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay. The resort stretches along a beautiful white-sand beachfront, putting the Caribbean Sea at the centre of the experience. That beachfront layout is important because you don’t have to treat the beach as somewhere you specifically go for the day. It becomes part of your daily routine. Walk along the water in the morning, find a lounger for the afternoon or head back toward the beach for a drink later in the day. And, when you want a change of scenery, your exchange privileges with Sandals Jamaica Caribbean Cay give you another resort and another beach experience to explore.
EAT & DRINK
DINING AT SANDALS JAMAICA MONTEGO BAY
Dining is another reason Sandals Jamaica Montego Bay works well for a longer stay, especially when you factor in the additional options available through Sandals Jamaica Caribbean Cay. The resort’s refreshed dining lineup combines Jamaican and Caribbean flavours with plenty of seafood and international options. These are three experiences I’d put on my list.

The exchange privileges give you access to another resort experience, so plan at least one visit rather than waiting until the end of your stay and realizing you never made it over.
