Sandals SOUTH COAST Resort Guide

OPENING NOVEMBER 18, 2026

Sandals South Coast is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort on Jamaica’s unspoiled south coast, known for its long beachfront, expansive grounds and secluded setting. Now undergoing a major transformation, the resort is getting an exciting new look with refreshed spaces, more lush landscaping, new dining concepts and new room categories.

One of the biggest changes? Sandals South Coast will become the first Sandals Resort to offer rooms with two queen beds — a significant addition for friends and groups travelling together.

Guests can also expect more greenery throughout the transformed resort, a refreshed Club Sandals experience, new restaurants including Butch’s Island Chophouse and a new rum club.

The setting remains one of the biggest reasons to choose Sandals South Coast. This is a large, beachfront resort surrounded by the natural beauty of Jamaica’s south coast, making it particularly appealing for couples who want to settle into their resort and stay awhile.

Who Is Sandals south coast Best For?

I recommend Sandals South Coast for:

  • Couples who want a secluded Jamaican resort
  • Travellers who prefer a larger property with plenty of space
  • Couples who consider the beach an important part of their vacation
  • Travellers excited about staying at a newly transformed Sandals Resort
  • Friends travelling together who want the option of two queen beds
  • Pickleball lovers (there are 12 dedicated courts)
  • Honeymooners considering an overwater bungalow
  • Travellers who enjoy lush landscaping and tropical surroundings
  • Couples who want plenty to do without being in a busy tourist area
  • Repeat Sandals guests interested in seeing the next generation of the resort

Sandals South Coast may not be my first recommendation if a short airport transfer is one of your top priorities. The resort’s more remote location is part of what makes it special, but you should be prepared for a longer journey after arriving in Jamaica.

If you’re happy to trade convenience for a more secluded setting, the payoff is a resort that feels removed from Jamaica’s busier tourism centres.

Sandals south coast Resort Highlights

Sandals South Coast is entering a new era. The resort has always had a beautiful setting, with expansive grounds and a long stretch of beach on Jamaica’s quieter south coast. The transformation builds on that foundation rather than completely changing what makes the resort appealing.

Expect more greenery and landscaping to soften and enhance the resort, along with refreshed guest spaces and new dining and drinking experiences.

One of the most interesting changes is the introduction of accommodations with two queen beds — a first for Sandals. That may sound like a small detail, but it opens Sandals South Coast to a different type of trip. Friends and family members travelling together can now enjoy an adults-only Sandals vacation without having to share a king bed or book separate rooms.

Club Level guests can also expect a refreshed Club Sandals experience, while the dining lineup is expanding with additions including Butch’s Island Chophouse. And, I’m particularly interested in the new rum club. It feels very Jamaica and adds another experience to enjoy without leaving the resort.

JEN’S TIP

Sandals South Coast is a large resort, so room location matters. Think about what you want to be closest to before choosing your category. Beach access, pools, restaurants and the overall feel of the different areas can matter more to your experience than simply choosing the highest room category within your budget.

Best Rooms at Sandals south coast

Sandals South Coast has a wide range of accommodations, from beachfront Club Level rooms to some of the most recognizable suites in the Sandals collection. Most are oceanfront, except for the rondoval village. I’d choose based on how much time you expect to spend in your room and which features genuinely matter to you. These are three of my favourite choices.

Sandals South Coast Starlight Beachfront Club Room w: Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub DGB

BEST VALUE

Starlight Beachfront Club Room with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub

The Starlight Beachfront Club Room is one of my favourite ways to experience Sandals South Coast without moving into the resort’s higher-priced Butler categories.

You get a beachfront location, Club Sandals amenities and a private balcony with a Tranquility Soaking Tub.

For me, that combination delivers many of the features couples actually want from an upgraded Sandals room without automatically moving into Butler-level pricing.

Sandals South Coast Longbeach Beachfront Club Level Suite w: Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub LGB

Best for beach lovers

Longbeach Beachfront Club Level Suite with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub

The Longbeach Beachfront Club Level Suite is one of my favourite choices if being close to the water is a priority.

The beachfront location makes the Caribbean Sea part of the experience, while the balcony and Tranquility Soaking Tub give you private outdoor space to enjoy it.

For couples who picture themselves waking up near the beach and spending much of their vacation around the water, this is a category I’d consider.

Sandals South Coast Blue Mahoe Overwater Butler Villa OWB

Best for a splurge

Blue Mahoe Overwater Butler Villa

The Blue Mahoe Overwater Butler Villa is one of Sandals South Coast’s signature accommodations. This is the kind of room you choose when the accommodation itself is part of the reason for taking the trip.

Staying over the water creates a completely different experience from a traditional beachfront suite, and personalized Butler service adds another layer to a honeymoon, milestone anniversary or once-in-a-lifetime vacation.

If staying in an overwater villa is on your bucket list, this is the room I’d be looking at.

Is Butler Service Worth It at Sandals south coast?

There are some exceptional Butler accommodations at Sandals South Coast, but there are also excellent Club Level rooms with beachfront locations and private outdoor space.

I’d consider a Butler suite if:

  • You specifically want an overwater villa or rondoval
  • You want one of the resort’s premium suite categories
  • You’re celebrating a honeymoon or milestone anniversary
  • You value personalized service throughout your stay
  • You want assistance with dining arrangements and your daily resort routine
  • Your room is going to be an important part of your vacation experience

If your priority is a standout room category that’s Instagram-worthy, then I’d splurge for the overwater bungalow.

MY TAKE

WHAT IS SANDALS SOUTH COAST REALLY LIKE?

Sandals South Coast is for travellers who want to get away from it all.

The location is more secluded than many Sandals Resorts in Jamaica, and I think you have to look at that as part of the experience rather than a disadvantage.

You come here to settle in.

The resort is large, the beach stretches along the property and there’s enough happening that you don’t need to leave every day looking for something else to do.

What makes the next version of Sandals South Coast particularly interesting is how much attention is being paid to the overall atmosphere.

More greenery should make an already beautiful setting feel even more lush and integrated into the landscape. The refreshed Club Sandals, new dining and new rum club add reasons to rediscover the property even if you’ve stayed here before.

And I think the introduction of two-queen-bed rooms is a bigger deal than it might initially sound.

Sandals has traditionally been designed very specifically around couples. Giving guests a two-queen option makes South Coast much easier to consider for girlfriends’ trips, adult family trips and other travellers who love the Sandals experience but don’t want to share a king bed.

THE BEACH

A LONG, SECLUDED JAMAICAN BEACH

The beach is one of the biggest reasons to choose Sandals South Coast. Rather than a small resort beach surrounded by development, you get a long stretch of sand in a much more secluded part of Jamaica. This resort is particularly well suited to couples who want the beach to be part of their daily routine: morning walks, afternoons by the water and a drink while the sun starts to go down.

EAT & DRINK

DINING AT SANDALS south coast

Dining is becoming an even bigger part of the Sandals South Coast experience as the resort transforms. The addition of new restaurants gives returning guests more to discover while expanding the options available during a seven-night stay. These are three restaurants I’d put on my list.

JEN’S TIP

Don’t underestimate the size of Sandals South Coast when choosing your room. Location can make a meaningful difference to your stay, so think about where you’ll spend most of your time before booking.

And keep an eye on the new additions. Between the refreshed Club Sandals, Butch’s Island Chophouse, new rum club, additional greenery and the introduction of two-queen-bed accommodations, the transformed Sandals South Coast is going to offer a noticeably different experience.
