How Do Sandals Resorts Compare to Other All-Inclusive Brands?

If you’re considering your first Sandals vacation, you’ve probably asked yourself the same question many travellers do:

“Is Sandals really worth the price compared to other all-inclusive resorts?”

The answer depends on what you value in a vacation.

Sandals isn’t necessarily the right fit for everyone—but it offers several things that are genuinely different from most all-inclusive brands. If you’re comparing Sandals to resorts in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica or elsewhere in the Caribbean, here’s what sets it apart.

WHICH SANDALS OR BEACHES RESORT IS PERFECT FOR YOU?

Answer a few simple questions to discover which Sandals or Beaches resort suits your travel style.

1. Everything Really Is Included

Many all-inclusive resorts advertise “everything included,” but once you arrive, you’ll often discover premium restaurants, top-shelf liquor, activities or exclusive areas that require an upgrade.

At Sandals, virtually everything is included in your stay:

  • Unlimited gourmet dining
  • Premium spirits and Robert Mondavi wines
  • Water sports
  • Snorkelling
  • Certified scuba diving (for certified divers)
  • Entertainment
  • Airport transfers
  • Wi-Fi
  • Taxes and gratuities

The only exceptions are spa services, butler gratuities (optional), and a small selection of premium wines from the Manager’s Wine List.

2. No Wristbands. No “VIP” Areas.

This is one of Sandals’ biggest differentiators.

At many resorts, guests are separated by room category.

You might see:

  • VIP pools
  • Exclusive beaches
  • Private restaurants
  • Different drink menus
  • Special wristbands

At Sandals, none of that exists.

Whether you’re staying in an entry-level Luxury Room or a multi-bedroom Butler Villa, everyone enjoys access to:

  • Every restaurant
  • Every pool
  • Every beach
  • Every bar
  • Every nightly show

Your room category changes your accommodations and service—not where you’re allowed to go.

3. Dining Is a Major Upgrade

Food is one of the areas where Sandals consistently stands out.

Rather than relying heavily on buffets, most dinners are served à la carte.

Depending on the resort, you may find:

  • Steakhouses
  • French cuisine
  • Italian restaurants
  • Sushi
  • Caribbean specialties
  • Mediterranean
  • Seafood
  • Asian fusion
  • Pizza
  • Jerk shacks
  • Food trucks

Breakfast often includes both buffet and à la carte options, while lunch varies by resort.

Unlike many all-inclusive resorts, you’re generally free to order multiple appetizers, entrées or desserts if you’d like to sample more than one dish.

4. A True No-Tipping Policy

Another feature guests love is Sandals’ no-tipping policy.

Outside of butlers and spa staff, gratuities are already included.

That means you don’t need to carry cash around the resort or wonder how much to tip after every drink or meal.

(Transfer drivers, airport porters and off-property tour guides are not Sandals employees, so tipping them is still customary.)

5. Scuba Diving Is Included

Certified divers receive one of the best values in the Caribbean.

Daily scuba diving is included with professional equipment, boats and dive staff.

For many travellers, this benefit alone saves hundreds—even thousands—of dollars over the course of a week.

6. Three Room Categories—Not Three Different Vacations

Sandals offers three service levels.

Luxury Level

The entry-level rooms include nearly everything the resort offers.

You’ll enjoy full access to all restaurants, bars, pools and amenities.

Club Level

Club Level adds conveniences such as:

  • In-room spirits
  • Expanded minibar
  • Room service (at most resorts)
  • Concierge service
  • Club Lounge access

Butler Elite

For guests looking for the highest level of service, Butler Elite includes:

  • Personal butler service
  • Preferred room locations
  • 24-hour room service (at most resorts)
  • Personalized beach and pool service
  • Restaurant meal delivery
  • Fully stocked premium bar

The important point?

You’re paying for enhanced accommodations and service—not exclusive access to the resort.

7. No Timeshare Sales

Many travellers appreciate something that isn’t advertised:

You won’t spend your vacation avoiding sales presentations.

Sandals doesn’t operate timeshare presentations, so you can simply relax.

8. A Strong Loyalty Program

Returning guests earn points through the Sandals Select Rewards Program, which can be redeemed toward future vacations.

For frequent Sandals travellers, those rewards can become quite valuable over time.

Why Is Sandals More Expensive?

This is probably the question I hear most often.

Yes, Sandals often costs more than many all-inclusive resorts.

But it’s important to compare what’s actually included.

When you factor in:

  • gratuities
  • premium liquor
  • specialty dining
  • scuba diving
  • airport transfers
  • watersports
  • no resort fees
  • higher staff-to-guest ratios

…the price difference isn’t always as large as it first appears.

Sandals has also invested heavily in renovating existing resorts and opening new destinations, resulting in higher-quality accommodations than many travellers remember from years ago.

Is Sandals Worth It?

If your priority is simply finding the lowest price, there are plenty of excellent resorts that cost less.

However, if you value:

  • a true adults-only atmosphere
  • consistently high service standards
  • excellent dining
  • premium inclusions
  • no hidden upgrade culture
  • beautiful beachfront locations
  • the ability to enjoy every part of the resort regardless of room category

then Sandals remains one of the strongest luxury all-inclusive brands in the Caribbean.

As someone who has visited many Sandals Resorts and helps clients compare them every day, I don’t believe Sandals is automatically the right answer for every traveller.

The best resort is the one that matches your travel style, priorities and budget.

That’s why I always start by learning what matters most to you—whether that’s food, beaches, scuba diving, room style, nightlife or total relaxation—before recommending a resort.

Thinking about Sandals?

I’d be happy to help you compare Sandals with other luxury all-inclusive brands and find the resort that’s the best fit for your vacation—not simply the most expensive one.
