Which Sandals Resort Should You Book for Winter 2027?

When a Canadian client tells me they want to escape winter, the first question is often, “Which Sandals resort is the best?” My answer is always: the one that fits the trip you actually want to take.

Are you picturing a long walk on the beach, a beautiful pool, a quiet hideaway, or an island you can explore? Will you spend most of your time at the resort, or do you want to get out and see your destination? The answers matter more than a generic list of top-rated resorts.

If you're planning a getaway between January and March 2027, these are the Sandals resorts I'd put on your shortlist—and the reasons I'd choose each one.

For the classic beach vacation: Sandals Grande Antigua

S andals Grande Antigua sits on Dickenson Bay. If you want to wake up, head for the sand, and spend much of your holiday by the water, this is one of the first resorts I'd consider. The setting delivers that familiar Caribbean beach vacation feeling, and there are different room locations and styles to choose from.

I'd choose it for: Couples who care more about the beach and the overall setting than having the newest-looking resort.

I'd pause if: You expect every part of the resort to feel brand new. Room category and location deserve a close look here; two rooms at the same resort can give you quite different experiences.

For a modern Jamaica getaway: Sandals Dunn’s River

Sandals Dunn’s River is a strong match for couples who want a polished, contemporary resort with plenty happening around the pools and restaurants. I visited in 2026, and it's a resort I can discuss with clients from firsthand experience.

I'd choose it for: Couples who want a lively, stylish resort experience and would enjoy combining resort days with some time exploring Jamaica.

I'd pause if: Your ideal holiday is a tiny, hushed hideaway. I'd compare your preferred room location and travel pace before recommending it.

For something distinctive: Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

S andals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is the one I'd put forward when a couple says, “We've done the usual Caribbean trip. Where should we go next?” Its dramatic, green setting gives the holiday a different feel, while the resort offers a wide range of dining and accommodation choices.

I'd choose it for: Couples who want scenery, a sense of discovery and time to settle into a less familiar island.

I'd pause if: You have only a few nights away or want the simplest possible travel day. Flights and total travel time from your departure city should be part of the decision.

For pool time and island exploring: Sandals Royal Curaçao

Sandals Royal Curaçao makes my shortlist for couples who love a beautiful pool and want their trip to include more than resort time. Its two-level infinity pool is a standout, and Curaçao rewards travellers who want to see more of the island.

I'd choose it for: Couples who enjoy spacious resort grounds, pool days, colourful surroundings and the option to explore beyond the property.

I'd pause if: Your number-one priority is a long, classic stretch of beach directly in front of the resort. I'd compare it with Antigua before you decide.

For a romantic Saint Lucia setting: Sandals Grande St. Lucian

Sandals Grande St. Lucian is a favourite to consider when the setting is central to the trip. It sits on Rodney Bay, with water and island views that make it especially appealing for a honeymoon or anniversary. Guests can also explore the dining options at the other Sandals resorts on Saint Lucia.

I'd choose it for: Couples who want beach time, beautiful views and a destination that feels like part of the holiday, rather than simply a backdrop.

I'd pause if: You want to be at your resort soon after landing. Consider the transfer alongside your flight times when comparing Saint Lucia with other islands.

For a refreshed Jamaica escape: Sandals Caribbean Cay

Formerly Sandals Royal Caribbean, Sandals Caribbean Cay is scheduled to reopen on December 18, 2026. Sandals has announced a redesigned pool experience, new dining and a new beach club on its private island. That makes it an intriguing choice for a winter 2027 trip.

I'd choose it for: Couples who love the idea of a Jamaica vacation with a private-island element and want to experience the resort's new chapter.

I'd pause if: You prefer a resort with a long track record of guest feedback after its latest changes. As I write this in September 2026, the refreshed resort has yet to reopen; I'll be watching the guest experience closely.

How I'd narrow this down for you

I wouldn't begin with the cheapest available room. I'd start with three questions:

What will you actually do most days? A beach lover, pool lover and island explorer may need three different resorts.
How much travel time feels reasonable? For a five-night escape, flights and transfers can matter as much as the resort itself.
Which room details will change your holiday? Beach proximity, view, privacy, walkout access and butler service can affect the experience more than a resort ranking.

My shortlist might change once I know your dates, departure airport, budget and preferred room style. Winter availability and pricing vary by date and room category, and I always look at the whole trip, including flights, before making a recommendation for Canadian travellers.
